If you have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP or psychiatrist you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate through the Australian Government’s Better Access initiative.
As a Registered Psychologist, the current Medicare rebate is $101.55 per session for eligible clients.
Eligible clients can access up to 10 Medicare-rebated psychology sessions per calendar year.
To access Medicare rebates, you will need:
A referral from your GP or psychiatrist
A valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP)
A valid Medicare card
A Mental Health Treatment Plan can usually be arranged during a longer appointment with your GP.

The Initial therapy session is $250 for a 60-minute consultation.
Session Fee: $250 Medicare Rebate: $101.55 Gap Fee: $148.45
Individual psychology sessions are $230 for a 50-minute consultation.
Session Fee: $230 Medicare Rebate: $101.55 Gap Fee: $128.45
Appointments are available both in-person and via secure telehealth.

Some private health funds provide rebates for psychological services, depending on your level of cover.
Please note that Medicare rebates and private health insurance rebates cannot both be claimed for the same appointment.

Payment is required at the time of your appointment.
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is requested for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations and non-attendance may incur the full session fee.

A waiting list is available for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) groups. Groups run for 2 hours for 10 weeks.
Fees will include a fee of $1000 for the complete course.
Medicare group rebates for each session may apply.

Supervision sessions are $200 + GST for a 60-minute consultation.
